A little bit of history...

fabiia.com was founded by Shija Walia and Jiten Walia and launched in January 2006 at the Top Drawer Spring Exhibition, London.

Shija Walia, Creative Director

Shija Walia is the Creative Director of fabiia.com and is responsible for all the creative decisions. Born in India, Shija spent fourteen of her formative years in Bahrain before returning to India to study interior design. After graduating in 1998 from JSS College, Mysore, Shija worked for several years alongside some of India's leading interior designers and architects, including Rathi Associates in Bangalore and Design Combine in Cochin. During her career, as well as designing interiors for commercial and residential projects, Shija also worked freelance as an interior designer and project manager for several IT companies in Bangalore.

Shija has always had a passion for textiles, colour and design from her childhood and is inspired by the world around her. After relocating to the UK in 2003, she set about extensively researching and developing her interior accessories range and launched Fabiia in 2006. The inspiration for Fabiia’s own interior accessories stems from her great passion for textiles and design, coupled with her understanding of different cultures. For example, the beautiful, nature-inspired foliage designs are a fusion of eastern and western influences, contemporary and traditional.

Shija also manages the operations and oversees the day-to-day activities in the company.

Jiten Walia

Jiten trained and qualified as a surgeon in India. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2003 and has been working in the NHS since then. He qualified as a member of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Scotland in 2007.

Jiten is a co-founder and director at Fabiia and initially had responsibilities of managing the finances and providing inputs towards marketing. He is now in-charge of the E-commerce side of the business. He has a deep interest in technology especially its application and is very passionate about Fabiia’s website. He oversees all aspects of Fabiia’s website – its development, maintenance and marketing other than the web-design in which Shija’s creative inputs are significant. Jiten also looks after the finances of the company, devises the marketing strategy, operations strategy and overall business strategy.

Jiten is doing his part-time MBA at the Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow, Scotland. He was nominated as Strathclyde Business School’s candidate for MBA Student of the Year Award 2011 that is organized by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) in association with The Independent newspaper. 

New plans for the company

fabiia.com, The Online Designer Bed and Bath Boutique

Shija and Jiten have a passion to create Fabiia into a fantastic online shopping destination where excellent shopping experience and unparalleled customer care is provided to Fabiia’s customers.

In 2011, Fabiia re-branded online as fabiia.com to become a worldwide online retailer of designer, high quality bedding and bath items. The much-awaited new-look, new-feature website has been launched with this in mind.

To add to Fabiia’s own range of designer products, Fabiia has now partnered with some of the leading international designer brands from around the world and will now showcase and sell a selection of items (handpicked by Shija) from their collections.
